Yeah, the water's still too cold. Boedecker update

A dozen or so of us turned out for Tuesday's boat fishing day on Tuesday at Boedecker Reservoir, and between us caught one lone fish. (Merle's white bass). Tom Miller turned up on the same lake two days later, without a pole, and spent the day more productively trying out his temperature gauge and new fish finder.  He files this report:

TO ALL YOU CRAPPY FISHERMEN :

I FINALLY GOT A CHANCE TO SURVEY BODECKER (4-10-14)  I DID NOT TAKE A POLE.

BOEDECKER IS  SHALLOW (15 FOOT DEEP) & NEARLY  STRUCTURELESS ; THE DAM, AND SEVERAL 5 FOOT DEEP "DOSER SCRAPES" CONSTITUTE ARE ABOUT ALL THAT I FOUND.

THE WATER IS TURBID, CRAPPIE WILL NEST SHALLOW, NOTE I SAID WILL, (IN THE FUTURE).

TEMPERATURE WISE, BOEDECKER IS ON THE CUSP, BETWEEN SPRING COLD WATER & PRE SPAWN. THE SURFACE TEMP TODAY AT NOON WAS 51.8 F.

THE TEMP PROFILE IS : SURFACE 51.8 TEMPERATURES STAY IN THE 50s TO 12 FOOT DEPTH WHERE IF BREAKS TO 49.8 FROM THERE IT DROPS TO 49.4 ON THE BOTTOM.

CONSIDERING THAT PRE-SPAWN CONDITION (FOR CRAPPIE) STARTS  AT 50F & GOES TO 63F, IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THINGS ARE  GOING TO OCCUR A BIT  LATER THIS  YEAR.

BE PATIENT, THINGS WILL WARM UP.

I SPENT ABOUT 4 HOURS ON THE WATER. TALKED TO EVERYONE THAT WAS FISHING. NO ONE HAD A FISH.------ QUS LASTIMA !
Here's a link to a Google Earth image of Boedecker, taken during low water level.
