Okay, it's nearly December, and the ice fishing season is nearly upon us.  Probably a week or two away in the high country; I just saw the post below on http://fishexplorer.com.

I suggest we hope for a continued cold spell, and maybe run to Dowdy or, even higher, Chambers Lake, in a week or so.  We can get the ever-optimistic Norm Englebrecht to go onto the ice fish to check for thickness, and maybe Merle to check for slippery...

Anyone been out to River's Edge or elsewhere this week?  Bill

Hiking in the area and stopped by Dowdy. There is thin ice on the West side and in the coves. Open water more in the middle (I didnt check by the dam). Punched through with my spud bar measuring 1/2-3/4 inch by the shore. A good cold spell week and it should be ready. Be safe out there! Bring all your safety gear including a buddy.
